lyrics

A spider
Sealed within a jar
No air
No sound
Just carved glass
Distorting his view

Waiting for the master
To release him
To release the master's
Only subject

(Opened is the lid and taken is the spider)

The spider worries
For the master is tense again
So as he is trained
The spider crawls into his mouth

Unable to see
But able to hear
The spider detects the other voice
It says,

"Explain."

The master's tongue rises
So as he is trained
The spider crawls out
And the master says,

"My lips are like stone… cracking with every smile."

The spider crawls back into his mouth

Peering from his master's mouth
He watches the owner of the other voice…
Leave

(Doctor reason)

So waits
The dedicated spider

The spider is always loyal to the master
Though the spider gets depressed

For he knows
One day
The master will terminate his kingdom

The kingdom of one subject…

The spider

Soon the other voice returns
But with many others
So as he is trained

The spider crawls into his master's nose

There he sits

He does not try to understand the voices
But he knows his master tries
His master always tries

An effort which gives him hope

Hope that his master will soon find home

One by one
The voices exit the room
Remaining with only one
Which says,
"You may go."

The last voice leaves the room

Not knowing what was said
The spider crawls back
Into his master's mouth

(Where he is taken and returned to his cell)

A spider
Sealed within a jar

No air
No sound

Just carved glass
Distorting his view

Waiting for the master
To release him

To release the master's
Only subject

(Opened is the lid and taken is the spider)

But the master sets him down

And slowly walks away

Knowing that his master is finally going home
The spider crawls away.
